Cranmore Community Co-Operative’s Family Fun Day on Saturday 13th Sept was a resounding success prolonging the summer season for Cranmore Residents as they basked in glorious sunshine. All ages were catered for whether it was getting their face painted, or entering the sporting and baked goods competition.
There was food, music and games available to entertain the gathering and the Cranmore Co-op Volunteers worked hard to make sure t…hat all had a memorable day.
Prizes were awarded for the various events by SCC Community Warden Gary Kelly, and thanks to the generosity of local Garda each child received a medal for their efforts in the various sporting events directed by Sligo Sports and Recreation Partnership Coaches. Thanks also to local lads Dean Clancy and Clive Gilligan who assisted with the sports.
Sr Rita McGarty also presented the Shield sponsored by The Sisters of Mercy for the Best overall garden in Cranmore won by Olive McLoughlin.
The ICA as usual played a leading role in the festivities by judging the baked goods competition where the variety of goods entered was afterwards enjoyed by residents with a cup of tea. The overall winner of the competition was Brian Mulligan, Cranmore Place, for his entry of a Victoria Sponge cake. Brian received a voucher for Sunday lunch for two in Fiddlers Creek as his prize. Other prize winners were Liz Gilligan for her Jam Swiss Roll. Alva, Finn and Molly Lee for their delicious apple tarts, brown bread and chocolate rice krispies. Sheila Williams for her lovely Apple Tart, Phyllis McGunniess for her gorgeous Sponge Cake and Aliyah and Amy Mills for their beautiful chocolate caramel cake with Vanilla Buttercream.
The Winning Ticket in the raffle for the Hamper was drawn by Bartley Gavin SCC and was won by Darren Somers.
